FOAF aggregator and search engine
This is the first service for collecting, connecting and displaying FOAF files that I have seen implemented.
Interesting service, simple to use and easy to browse. Good thing that TypePad and Ecademy generate FOAF files automatically.
PLINK gets all its user data from FOAF (Friend-of-a-Friend) files which anyone can add to their web site. FOAF files are machine readable (XML) text files that you can use to describe basic information about yourself and the people you know. Anyone can create a FOAF file quite simply by using tools like the excellent Foaf-a-matic. Some community based sites such as Typepad and Ecademy will also generate FOAF files automatically from your profile.
Looks like what I wanted to create for that mailing list I am a member of which needed a new member directory. Yet another project that never got off the ground. ;)
