Rethink the shoe-industry

Adbusters starts a shoe brand. Shoes made by uninoized workers. Get a pair. In fact, get two or three.

Is it possible to take Phil Knight's billion-dollar marketing momentum and, in a quick judo-like move, slap him onto the mat with the power of his own PR thrust? Read about our Kick Ass Marketing Strategy, and find out how you can Get Involved.

Really, who needs Nike shoes anyway? They are promoted as designed for the elite athletes, spending huge amounts of money on materials, technology, structure and design. And marketing.

I spend my day sitting on an office chair, my evenings sitting at the local pub or at home in front of a book or my Gamecube... ...do I need an elite running shoe? No. Not even when I occasionally go to the gym or run a few kilometers in the forest.

So until Nike takes some of the money spent on marketing and spends it to improve the conditions of the workers actually manufacturing the shoes I think I will buy these instead.
