Andy Rooney talks to God

I am no big fan of Andy Rooney. To me he is a whiney fart with obvious problems seeing the good things in life. Of course that impression is based on his appearances in CBS 60 Minutes.

Recently Andy has received a lot of press on a few sarcastic comments he made on his weekly appearance, about people using God's word for their own purposes. I am not a religious person, hence I find this uproaringly... ...funny.

I heard from God just the other night. God always seems to call at night. "Andrew," God said to me. He always calls me "Andrew." I like that. "Andrew, you have the eyes and ears of a lot of people. I wish you'd tell your viewers that both Pat Robertson and Mel Gibson strike me as wackos. I believe that's one of your current words. They're crazy as bedbugs, another earthly expression. I created bedbugs. I'll tell you, they're no crazier than people, said God. "Let me just say that I think I'd remember if I'd ever talked to Pat Robertson, and I'd remember if I said Bush would get re-elected in a blowout." As far as Mel Gibson goes, I haven't seen his movie, 'The Passion of the Christ,' because it hasn't opened up here yet. But I did catch Gibson being interviewed by Diane Sawyer. I did something right when I came up with her, didn't I, added God. Anyway, as I was saying, Mel is a real nut case. What in the world was I thinking when I created him? Listen, we all make mistakes."

Funny? You bet. It gets even more funny reading stories about what Andy Rooney said. Like this one, where Andy's final question to Mel about how much money he makes off the crucifixion of Christ in a way gets confirmation. Check out the not so subtle commercial message from the Editor at the end of the article.

Noam Chomsky blogs

Chomsky has started blogging about current events and topics of interest.

Welcome to Turning The Tide. This blog will include brief comments on diverse topics of concern in our time. They will sometimes come from the Znet sustainer forum system where Noam interacts through a forum of his own, sometimes from direct submissions, sometimes culled from mail and other outlets -- always from Noam Chomsky.

CeBIT: Northport, solutions for citynets

I thought I would have a hard time finding companies working with integrated service solutions for city networks, but all I had to do was take eight steps to the right.

Northport is a Swedish company based in Linköping. They market and sell a modularized portal solution for citynets handling billing, mediation, rating and self-provisioning. The product is called Modulution Portal System.

CeBIT fair starts in two minutes

Everything is set, we have all our gear fully functional in our stand. Now it begins.

This fair is huge. Huge I tell you. Check out the picture of O2's stand. It is big. Cisco's is huge.

Right now I think there is a one hour queue to the parking grounds.

Everything costs money. "Sure, we have Internet access in the booth. You want DNS and an extra IP? Pay over there."

I am going to try and find how to get access to the WLAN, if it isn't to expensive I will be able to blog more freely.

We are sorry, we are so very sorry

Tony Hendra, yes, the guy in Spinal Tap, has written an excellent apology to the Bush administration for being so leftishly mean.

We come to you not just as sinners but as supplicants, begging not just forgiveness but inclusion. There's a reason God named the right the right: Because it's right. You have a monopoly on the truth, and you always have and you always will. We see that now. We really do.

This is strong stuff. Rarely have I encountered such throat slitting sarcasm. If it wasn't so scary I would laugh out loud at the pokes and stabs poorly hidden (hidden? he isn't even trying to hide them... ;) among the excuses.

Apology accepted? Hardly.

TAP: Vol 15, Iss. 2. We See That Now. Tony Hendra.

A really, really small love-in in Stockholm

Last week (?) a homeless couple made a public demonstration of what basic needs they can't satisfy. By trying to satisify eachother sexually in the middle of he city square. Almost work safe.

A very special demonstration by a homeless couple took place on Sergel Plaza in the middle of Stockholm a few days ago. Since they had no home, they took their bed and their love to the city square. I guess a public place is the closest to home they have. For a moment we were all guests in their bedroom.

In monday evening in the center of stockholm you could see this homeless people making love. Now that all picture is strictly copywrited and are NOT allowed to use or download under any circumstanses. But please feel free to vote and tell your friend about this gallery. Life is Fun and there is more to come!

The police interfered after about 1 1/2 hour without any further explanations and drove the playful couple to the "Swedish state servants" so that they could get some help with a private place of their own for their loveplay.

Handling massive amounts of email in your inbox

Scobleizer writes about cleaning up your inbox. Receiving massive amounts of email is a problem. Which are important, what should you do about it?

Even if you count out the spam flood I still get a lot of email. Scobleizer quotes David Allen, stating that the only way to handle it is to take care of every email making sure that your inbox is kept empty. My own experiences say the same thing.

I use a lot of filters and rules to sort list emails and newsletters (internal and external, the ones I still haven't redirected to Bloglines) making sure that if something important arrives it either stays in the top folder (the original Inbox) or ends up in folders that I watch carefully every day.

Of course I have one account for my job related email and one for my personal email, anything else would be hysterical. ;)

In that way I can keep on top of it. I would love to go to one of those David Allen seminars I think.

New times require new thinking

The opinion that regulatory action when it comes to spreading of digital content not necessarily is a good thing is spreading to the more conservative parts of the business world.

The entertainment industry's pursuit of tough new laws to protect copyrighted materials from online piracy is bad for business and for the economy, according to a report being released Monday by the Committee for Economic Development, a Washington policy group that has its roots in the business world.

Bits and bytes are not atoms. New technology and innovations require clear and sharp thinking on possibilities, threats, how to change or create new business models and not knee jerk reactions to create new laws.
